Pinback at Coachella, photo by CourtneyP (flickr). With 94/9 playing "Fortress" & "From Nothing To Nowhere" hourly for years, I'm a little surprised 91X wasn't doing the same. Rob did live Name-That-Tune at our music trivia night several times and was a regular at Too Cool For Karaoke.  One night I finally remembered to turn off the music right as he was about to sing the English Beat and switch over to "Penelope".  I got the look but he also couldn't believe I hadn't done it sooner.

The P word at Coachella 2005, photo by CourtneyP (flickr). With 94/9 playing them hourly for years, I’m a little surprised 91X wasn’t doing the same. The latest single “Proceed To Memory” is maybe their catchiest yet. 91X & 94/9 are overplaying songs right now more than I’ve ever heard them before. Make some room for the beard! Rob did live Name-That-Tune at our music trivia night several times and was a regular at Too Cool For Karaoke. One night I finally remembered to turn off the music right as he was about to sing the English Beat and switch over to “Penelope”. I got the look but he knew damn well how hard it was for me not to have done it sooner.

When Rookie Card did a photoshoot with the San Diego Chicken, Ted Giannoulas said one of the coolest things he ever got to do was introduce the Ramones at the Stadium. He couldn't believe I knew that was at the first XFest in 1983. This Chris Stokes photo was taken at the Backdoor at SDSU in 1979 when he was still the KGB Chicken.

GEEK NOTES
No more one hit wonders from here on out.  Gotye is the highest ranking act with just one song on the list.  Good commentary on the state of radio.  That song is STILL getting played to death and I haven’t heard one station in town put another song of his into rotation.  He and Kimbra both have some other great songs.  (shakes head)  Oh nevermind….
Nickelback!?  Yep.
Best song on this list? Carolyn’s Fingers by a nose.  Worst?  “Ride To California” by Paper Tongues, probably the worst song on this entire list and it made the list two years in a row.  What do YOU think?!  Leave a comment.
