1991 Why Do Birds Sing era. Their 1981 debut is the ultimate slow grower. 91X didn't play anything from it until the very end of the decade. It's famously the only platinum selling album to never make the top 100 Billboard album charts.

1991 Why Do Birds Sing era. Their 1981 debut is the ultimate slow grower. 91X didn’t play anything from it until the very end of the decade. It’s famously the only platinum selling album to never make the top 100 Billboard album charts. They did play their cover of T Rex’s “Children of The Revolution” in 1986 when it was still new but it would be years before they played the band’s most well-known songs. They were practically the station’s houseband for their annual Del Mar Fairground concert series playing six years straight from 2002-2007.

  3. Best? I like Trash Can Sinatras a lot. Yello’s “Oh Yeah” – the song of the summer of ’86. The A House song is good, and “Bang a Gong” is one of my favorite covers (from before I knew it was a cover!). And the Shona Laing song is *still* called “Soviet Snow” no matter how many times you get it wrong. 😀

I *really* want to go with Ultravox’ “Reap The Wild Wind”, but I’ll go with Midge’s other song here – Band Aid’s “Do They Know It’s Christmas?” Still gets to me.

Worst? You may be right with Kinison. In fact, yeah, I’ll go with that.
